The Cornwall Stage of the Tour of Britain was launched today!
Peter, Doug, Stephen, Bob and I attended the launch at Chy Trevail by Cornwall Council. Representatives from the Tour of Britain including Andy Hawes, the Course Director presented Stage 1 of the Tour of Britain which will take place on Sunday, 6th September, 2020.
It’s all very exciting and the Club already has some great ideas about how we can celebrate the tour coming through St Austell and our local area.
ToB and Cornwall Council announced that there will be more information being made available as it is confirmed via the dedicated web site at www.cornwalltourofbritain.co.uk. The 175 kms stage Grand Depart will be in Penzance with the route visiting St Just and St Ives before heading to Camborne, Redruth, Truro, Newquay, St Austell and a finish in St Nicholas Street, Bodmin.
There are still many details to work out and confirm but it is expected more information will become available in the New Year and Spring of 2020.
As a Club we will follow developments closely and want to be actively involved. We understand that towns along the route will become engaged in involving their local communities and so we’re looking forward to being part of this amazing opportunity to celebrate cycling in our local area.
